Frequently Asked Questions

Woman practicing hot yoga at Helios Yoga Loudonville
I've never done hot yoga. Which class should I take first?
Flex & Stretch is our gentle yoga class. It's a slower, flexibilty-focused, sequence taught in a warm room, often with the use of props like straps and blocks. It includes a mix of floor and standing postures and is a great way to get introduced to hot yoga.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. Flexibility is what the practice gives you, not what you bring to it. Every class here has people who can do challenging postures and people who can't reach their knees, often side by side. The infrared heat is designed to support your practice wherever you are on your hot yoga journey.
What if I can't finish the class?
Then you rest. Sit down, take child's pose, drink some water, and come back when you're ready — that's not quitting, it's how everyone learns to work with heat. Try to stay in the room if you can, since leaving and re-entering is harder on your body than resting is. Your teacher will check on you.
How hot is the studio?
Between 97°F and 105°F depending on the class, with humidity held steady so the air stays soft rather than stifling. If those temperatures sound high, the room is actually very comfortable. Infrared heat warms your body directly instead of turning the room into a wall of hot air. Most people acclimate within two or three classes.
How crowded do classes get?
Never crowded. We cap every class at 20 students and space the mats so you can fully extend your arms without touching anyone. If you've practiced somewhere you spent the whole class negotiating for six inches of floor, that won't happen here — staying small is a deliberate choice, and it's the thing our members love the most.
What should I bring, and what should I wear?
Bring a water bottle and yourself. We'll loan you a mat and a towel for free, so there's nothing to buy before your first class. Wear something you're comfortable sweating a lot in — most people go with shorts or leggings and a fitted top. Skip cotton if you can; it holds sweat and gets heavy.
What is Inferno Hot Pilates, and do I need Pilates experience?
No experience needed. Inferno Hot Pilates is a heated, low-impact, high-intensity class — interval-style workout that builds strength cardiovascular endurance. It's a great complement to traditional yoga for building core strength.
Do I need to book in advance, and what if I need to cancel?
Yes, please book ahead. You can cancel any time right up until class starts, at no charge, so there's no risk in reserving early. If you book and don't cancel, there's a $10 no-show fee, since an unclaimed mat means someone else didn't get that spot.
What time should I arrive?
About 15 minutes early. This gives you time to check in, set up, and let your body start adjusting to the heat instead of rushing into it. We close the doors at start time.
Can I pause my membership?
Absolutely. Members can pause for up to 30 days per year — just let us know at least two weeks in advance so we can set it up before your next billing date.
